I find my self down on my blanket trying to drop you afew lines to let you know how I am doing at this time I have heard from you but it was not from any letter that I got from you for I dont think you have wrote aleter since we left home to any of the boys that is in camp Er we have had some fun in the camp paign. I have heard that all Swets[?] had there hitter, and if we hant seen hell in his harness hear I dont know when we will see any worse times than we are now seeing; we are out hear in tents yet and I dont know when we will get quarterd up for the winter.
 
            I think we will go to Nubern to winter yet but I dont know we may and we may not go there. There is one thing that I do no that is that we / will go whear ever we are orderd to go. I hear so may damm lys that I dont believe the trouth when I hear it. For Er it is aplace that I can hardly stand for we are kept under such tite rule that it danot suit me. We have done lots of mistchieaf since we have ben out and lots of it was uncall for but we wanted some fun. Er some of the boys are promted to [?] city for there mis doings and N. B. [paper fold] but if they had caught him he would have went on shure as you are foot heigh. Tell Nancy that she can beat me as to butter but I will be damed in I cant beat her amakeing baskets and cooking beaf. Er I have eate beef till I am so gresy that I cant hardly keep my shirt on I am so sleak and fat. Er I would gave you the nuse as it is hear but there is so many writeing that we all can not tell the trouth I am shure and to keep from liing to you I will not say one word about it. /
 
            Er I am well at this time and glad that I have paper anuf to write to you, and I want you to write to me as soon as you can.
 
            I got my cloaths day before yesterday wich was the 20 and I tell you it was abig day with the 16 ragged asst Tennessee vol as we are cauled hear.
 
            Er I had for got to tell you that I had lurned to eat raw bacon I god I can make about now I eat one peace about as big as your two fists one day with out any bread. I had it in the mountains with me and bread gave out and I cared two days and my sumache begun to feel emty and I thought I would try it and see if I could eat any of it. I tell you it was the best bacon that I ever saw. We are geting plenty to eat now but if we have to go back up in them dammd holds we will suffer for they can not get it to us.
