Dear Mother
I seat myself this eavning to write you a few lines to let you know how i am geting along I am well and hearty but i am nearly broke down my feet are so sore it is as much as i can do to get about we have marched some 15 or 16 miles to day we and got here about 3 oclock I received a letter from you and add since i got here and was i was much pleased to hear from you and to hear that you were all well I do not know how long we will stay here but i hope we will stay here a while and rest for my feet are nearly worne out The yankees are some 12 or 15 ms of here and there has been some skermishing going on in the last few days /
You can tell Bowman where i am i hope we will stay here till he comes he can bring me some thing to eat you can send me some thing and if he does not get it to me he can sell it for doubble the worth of it but i hope we will be here when he comes. Petigrews Brigade is ordered to Freddricksburg there have to be some troop here and i recon we will stay here I am afraid my letter will not get up there in time i wrote one before we got orders to come here i had a chance of sending it by hand but the man i give it tow is with us yit Alaxander Brown says tell Bowman to bring him something i will bring my letter to a close hoping when it comes to hand it may find you all well
