My Dear Sir:
                        I hope you will not consider me troublesome in again applying to you for a certificate setting forth my services under you on Morris Island, particularly in the artillery, and also my habits as to sobriety &c. I have made an application at Richmond for an appointment, according to the notice of the Adjt. Genl. enclosed. I send you this in adv that you may see exactly what I want. I could have used the certificate you sent me in the Spring, but I have written the Gov. & Council for it and active and they have sent me only the active military            Yours,
 
Might I ask that you give it / as Adjt. General, so that It might be in the might and influence of your present position?
 
            Begging pardon for again troubling you on this subject, and hoping that this may be no impediment to your compliance with my request, and that as early as possible
