Dear wife i write these few lines to you to inform you that i am well and hoping that you are the same i receved your three letters and the tobaco and paper that you sent me i had no chance to answer your letters soner as we was out on picket since Wednesday untill yesterday we returned to camp so i take the pleasure of writing to you to day i had the hair that sent me and i did lose my pocket book and 50 cents out of the Dollar that you sent me the hair and all / the litle keepsakes that i had i think that i can send you my likenes in the next as i do expect to go to the city tomorow if i can get a pass i am sory to hear that the child was not well but i do hope she will be well again this reach you you need not be to saving of your money as i do not want you to save and not take what is right for you but i want you to live comfortable on what you get eat as much as you can that you and the child may get fat give my best respects Wm Macdonald tell him that i am thank him for exposing me / as he did in camp in pottsville no more at presant from your Dear husband
