Dear Wife
I take the pleasure of riting these few lines to you in answer to your most welcome letter witch I received on the 14 inst stateing to me that you and the child ware in good helth as the parting of this letter leaves me at at Presant thank god for his Kindness to us all We still encamp the same place where we ware when I rote to you last you need not be uneasy a bout me wanting money for all I want I can get with out money thats tobacco for there is plenty of it grows here /
 
that flag that was presented to our Regiment in Pottsville by govern Curtaine it was one of the sargents in our company that got it and he carried it to virginia untill he was broke at alaxandria for being ebsence since then company C has got the callers and they carried in the senter of the Regt now I can not tell you the mans name that shot him selfe in company B he is a Dutchman he is not shot dead it is through the hand and fred is not shot dead it is the tricker finger that he shot off when I go home if god spares me I / will tell you how these fellows shoots them selfes you mentioned to me that catharine was geting like a little Boy I am verry mutch a fraid the mid wife played a trick on you for if I was at home it might be Boy you said that you would send the childs Pickture and I wish you would send it in this then I could keepe them both to gether and send your a long with it I have nothing new to mention No more at presant from your affectionate husband
