Dear Son and Daughter I now pick up my pen To drop you A few lines to let you no we are all well At present but Emily She has tha measels Hopeing when these lines come to hand tha may find you all well and doing well
 
I recevd a letre from you some time Ago and was Glad to hear from you and to hear Sarah had Got well and you was All doing well And we must not fail to say we feel thanke Ful to you and Mr Hiett for the sack of Fine potatoes you sent us you may be shure Tha was A sho to some peopel hear
 
you wisht me to send you one and half Bushels Dride peeches tha are verry skers I have got them at last by by git ing Mr Lyon to save them for me tha are verry hy For the bushel and half I paid 3 dollars And 75 cents I done the best I could to git them you will find them at the depo in crawfordvill Saturday the 24 day of this instant
 
I have not mutch to rite at present thare is Nothing new a flote now worth telling you About I have bilt A shop in the ground and have got to worke in it I have 2 new wagons in the shop now and 3 more to come soon but I have A warm shop to work in this winter /
 
you rote that you wanted A 2 horse plow write and let me no if you want it To be A heavy or lite 2 horse plow and I will Make it to sute you if I can and if you want Enny thing elce let me no and I will make them And send them whin I send the plow
 
Tha colglazers are All skerd to deat since oald Abe is Alected presedent of the united States I tel you the democrts look rite strate down there noses And the cry is war With that party now
 
Wheete is worth 90 and 95 cents per bushel corn 50 cents per bushe thare is no porke byers yet the porke houses in Albany and louisvill Are closde and will not by this fall so thare is no price offerd for poarke those who have Bin dealing in porke say it will not be worth more Then 3 cent or 3 1/2 per pound grose
 
Money is harde to git at this time and the cry is with the democrats that we will see harder Times then we ever have seen because oald Abe is our pesedent but I am like the boy That went to market to buy osters when he Was ast which he want to have dea osters or Live ones he was not shure which he would Hav but said he I will wate and see so I will wate and not beleve what tha say yet
 
I want you to rite and let me no if the bookers ar all democrats yet /
 
            I now beleive I am done for the present Tel Siles Hyett I Am thanke ful for the Answer to the leter I rote to him he must Have riten and dircted to some other post office—tel cosen Wm Booker to rite
 
Sarah your mother wanst you to rite and let Hur no what was the caus of Mahala Bookers Falling in the fire and what was the caus of Orenes Booker and his wife parting
 
All Mr forder famly is well now and gethering corn now I must clos scot sais send that Big Apel in a leter he sais the reason he Cant eat it in A day is because it tis so Hurd he sais he wanst to see you and will The worst kind Mother will send you some Cabbage seed with your peaches she wants you To rase A grate big head to cook when she Comes out next fall Jame was not verry well Lat lats thurs day Wm famly was well the Last we heard of them Solomon Naugl was Well the last we heard of them
 
Now I want you to rite as soon as this comes To hand and let us no if you get your peaches Tel all the friends to rite soon we are Anxious to hear from hala Booker if she is liveing yet No more at present hopeing to Reman you faith ful parence until death or while we sogurn on this low ground of sorrow /
 
I want you to let me no what potatoes is worth I want some the worst way if tha aint to hy we have had no peese yet our pasters are green yet so good night hopeing gods blessing may rest uppon you all
