Deare brother & sister it is with pleasure that I set down to answer youre kind leter that I received this night I was glad to heare you was all well we ar all well at this time & I hope when these few lines comes to hand they may find you ingoying the same blessing you said it was wet out with you it has bin raning heare pretty nigh all the time since the first of march theire is some of the people that has not got their oats soad yet I have got 8 acres of oats soad and they ar up nice we have not maid gardin yet but if it doant raine we want to make some saturday it does loock like raning to night /
 
I think we can beat you for harde times money is vary scarce corne is worth 40 cts per bushel wheat 80 oats 25 bacon is worth from 3 to 5 cts per pound I am A going to put in A bout one acre of corne so that when you come out this fall that I can fead you on roastenyears and beanes when you come to my house and we will mix A few ingerns[?] A long with them well Jim I must tell you that I have got to be one of the poplerst men in pierce township I have got the grait big ofice of super visor and I am A keaping A fine stacion I am any thing you may call for this seazin first A smith next A farmer next A supervisor next A horse keaper /
 
well July I must say A few words to you I have loocked for A leter from you eve since you went out theire and so to night I got it I had come to the Conclusion that you thought that I was not worth riting to as it was rit for you to rite to me first you roat to the balance and I thought if you had not for got that their was sutch A being as me you would rite some time my eyes has bin prety ni out all this winter I cant hardly se how to rite after night it does prety ni ruin them to read after nite I have bin reding the daly Gazett for the last yeare I think that is what is to mater with my eyes O they doe hurt /

well I must come to A Cloase by saying Good night to you boath tell Saly that I roat last I want you to rite as soone as this comes to hand I hope to remaine youre brother and sister untell death
