Dear Father & Mother Sisters & Brothers it has ben some time since I have riten to you but you must excuse me for sircumstances hav ben very unfaverable for riting. We left Merfreesboro on the morning of the 24th of June and it rained on us for 14 days in succession it mist yesterday and to day so far but I think it will rain before many houers from appearance. the roads are awful but we have fixt up our camp to day as tho we would stay hear for some time the report is hear that / Brag has left Tennesse but let that be as it will I dont think we will get the chance to give him a thrashing the general opinion is that this war is a bout plade out and I hope it is for I would like to come home and se thoes I love but war or no war our time will be out one year from last Tuesday but I have no rite to complain for I am in better helth now and have ben for some time than I ever was before I think it was a providental act I think that I came into the Searves but I must quit hoping still to remain yours for ever
