Campbellsburg Ind March 26the 1865
Dear Sister alow me the privleg of witing you a few liens this good sabeth evning in anser to you kind note which came to hand last nite I was truley hapy to hear frome you one time more in life fore I thougth you had fore got me a redy but I see you have not and oh Em I feel so lonsum and sad this evning that I dont now whether I can wite or not but if I cold see you I cold tell you lots I think we cold have a gay time if you was hear this evning you wanted to noe if I had heard from james cate or not I got a letter frome him the same day nite you left that was writen 4 of last month and I have not heard a word frome him sence Em what wold I give fore a letter frome him fore it a pers like that I am never to hear frome him aney more Lida Staten got one frome Sam last nite and that is the first one that has ben frome Shearman fore five weaks maby I will get one this weak if not I will think thare is something wong with him but trust in god fore his safty and that is all I can do / and oh but that is hard but then tha have ben marchen fore some time if I dont get a letter in a fue days it dond apere like I cane stand it much longer Em you wanted to noe how I got get a long by my self well I cant hardley tell but well a nuf I recon I will tell you what I was don last weak and you can guess fore your self I and the children tuck the manur out of the stabel and put one the garden till we coverd the ground in tirley over and a saterda evning I went over to C D Gabbard and got his wagon and mules and went out in the woods and got two lods of wood and hold home Mr Brown said that I mite goe out one his land and get as much dea wod as I want so I had to chope it ore some of it you nea not be surprise if the next time you hear frome me that you wold hear that I hav ben plouing fore I dont see nother way to get my garden broke onley to take old doll and plou my self if I keep able fore I dond feel like that I cold stand evry thing at once and I feel gest like that my frends had all fore saken me or I never had eney one but then I am a solger wife so it makes no ous what becomes of hur Em this is a hard world to be in aney way but I gess we will live untill we die if noe body dont kill me /
Emley it a peares like you think very hard of me for not writing to you but you nedent fore I got you letter on saterday after you left and I anserd it write a way and I cant see what is the reason you never got it I wot a fool sheet and Martha wote some to and I have ben grumbling a rite smarte a bout you not ansern it but then you was not hear to hear me I guess the rest of the famley dont cear aney thing fore me nor the children fore tha hav never blacked paper to me sence you left if tha have I never got it well if tha think it wont pay to wite to me why that is all write that is all I want to noe and I never will bother them a gane if I am a pore lonley women I will set at and smoke when I wold be writing to them
Em Ann has moved to town she lives in a part of Mimes hous she moved the next weak after you left pet has got well and gone to the Rigment Oh yeas Will Baker has got home at last and Andy Cauble tha got home last friday week what did Mary think do you recon tha have moved over to old Mrs Bakers bulley fore them I say Ambros Barnett is mared a gane to Mary Bogle the widow Bogle girl and Mary Bogle that is Rafe Bogle dater in law / husben dide in the armey a bout 6 months a goe hur and john kider is marid I belive that is all the wedons we have had sence you left Charley sais that he cant come out thare now have you to come back by your self fore he has not got the money and has to helpe maw to work till school comences and then he is a goin to school he sais if you had don as he wanted you you wold have ben hear now he sais that he wold love to see you and have some fun with you a gane laura sais fore you not to eat all the shugar up be fore she comes fore she is a coming be fore long she is a going to send you a pece of hur new dress and bonet she feels very fine now
well Em I went to sabeth school this morning we had a very interesting school I think that I shall goe a gane fore I get so lonsum of a sunday sence the weather has got warm nearley all of the people has ben making garden in tow I think that I will make garden this weak if I get the grond ploud well I will have to stop fore my paper is nearley gone but I cold write all nite and then not tell you half what I cold if I cold see you but will wait till you come back a gane and I dont think that will be very long how meney letters have you got frome bille sence you have got home have you heard frome Mr Yong sence you got home ore not well I will quit fore this time ore I will weary your pashens by my scriblen write soon if you think it worth while
