Dear old Em
I have undertaken to fulfill my promace to write to thee but I dont know where to begin for I have so much I would like to tell thee. I expect old Maud has told thee all I wrote to her. I do think she does treet me so meen for I havent got a letter / from two weeks. I did not think they would treet me so badley. we did have a nice time while Ruth was here she did not stay half long enough how is Hen Hwlet and thee and Ann getting along? and Lin and Jane and Nele and Nute, do they still carry on at the same rate they used to? Has Mary Dit got got a beau jet or is she still waiting for George? and Joce and Ella and Em A what are they at not making any more water falls I hope and my Richard poor boy where is he? I wonder if he ever thinks of me and our trip to Bootses. tell him I have the butter knife yet. We have got a cow, two horses, 10 pigs, 13 chickens and a whit citten those embrace / our live stock, and the pears and apples and grapes. oh but I do wish thee was here we would just eat untill we stood out. who is teaching at the Academy? and how is the lodg getting along? who has been initiated since I left? I have not been to lodg here sinse I came but we alow to gow next third day night just come over and go with us and we will try to see a good time. we went to dine in they City of Richmond and had a fine time. oh I had allmost forgotten to ask after Thilghman and Jake & Dr Griffath. now Em I want thee when thee writes to get this and answer all the questions I have asked, and Em if it is not to much trouble I would ask thee to go to / fathers and tell them to please send me the receipt to make pickled pears (that is pears it just would blot) give my respects to Taylor and all inquireing friends. how is Aniel and Mary and Alf and Mariam? do the girls stick out? I must quit for this time. please tell them to send receipt as soon as ever they can for the pears are ready now come over and hep me to make grape jealy. good night. besure to write soon. we are going to Daten to the fair next week.
