Dear Sister All
I now commence for to rite a line or two in answer to the letter witch I received from you to day it was dated the 14th of this month witch I was very hapy for to receive and to learn how you was a getting along. and you said that you had left new York and gone home for to stay, and help mother, and you spoke of the 19th N.J. and that the most of them was sick and in the hospital but I cant see what / is the matter of them all. but I would like to know what is their disease. but and you said that the regiment was a guarding the rail road. the rail road runes along about two miles from our camp, so I think that I will go out along the road to morrow and see if I can see any one that I know. but I dont know what company they belong to but I can find out by looking. and you said that you had not rote in some time. I think that you had ought to excuse me for not riting before, for I cant hardley rem / ember wen the last time that I did rite to you last. but I am very glad to hear that you are home for to help home mother, and I suppose that she feels uneasy about us, but she must not worry at all for we are all right, all though we have passed through one more of the grate battle, but we have come out unhurt, and untoutched by the enemys bullets. I rote a letter to elizabeth to day and so I thought that I ought to rite to you too, so but it is a getting very late now and I will / have to close, and rite some other time. but you must not wait for me to rite, but you must rite as often as you can. but before I close I will say that we are both of us well and enjoying good health, but I must close for it is late so no more at present
so Good Night
