            Dear Sister
Alice I now hardly know what I am a writeing, or what I will write, but I will try and think of some thing for to interest you in some way or other. but I hardly know how. it is very warm here and a plenty of flies to bother me so you will have some fine scribbeing in this note. so you will have to excuse this note for shortness. and Oh! the excusess is to numoures to mention. you say that you have / a house full of company or rather Boarders. you mentioned some but I think that I see one there that you did not speak of, although it is a good ways from here. let me know the partickulars of what is a going on around there and off the widding and so on and soforth.

I told J. G. what you said and he said it was all right and that you could halve one of his cards. he has sent for them. there is nothing new around here now at presant, so I am at a loss to know what to write. only your company need not be in a hury to go home, but I shall after a little / while. you may think or ask how I know that you have company. I wont say that I seen them, but I gess at it, is it not so? I will excuse you this time for your short letter but no telling what I will do wen I get where I can talk to you. that will be some time yet, I think but you must write as often as you can in that time, so as to make it fly the merrier to us all. there is still the fireing of mortars and cannons in the front, but they are all still now. but they was fighting near all night last night, but they dont hurt many on our side. I cant say how it is with them. /

You said or asked me if I would not be there to the weding. I was (not) there. did you’nt see did you not see me. I cant think of any thing more at presant so I will stop my scribling

I am in the best of health and spirits and hope that this will find you all the same. I will now close hopeing to hear from you soon.

My love to you all.
                                                                        Your evertrue Brother
