            Dear Sister
I now will try to write a note in answer to youres of the 19th witch was duely received and mutch appreciated by me, for I wanted to hear from you. but there is one or two yet due me from you, witch I hope will soon receive and then have the pleaure of answering them, witch is the moste pleasant duty of a soldier is to receive and answer letters the more the merrier. so you can not write to often. /

now I suppose that you want to know some thing of our situation. (we expected last night to be situated with out any foundation) we are about 50 yards to the left of one off our forts and it has been reported that the rebs has undermined it, and was to blow it up last night, and us yanks along with it. but it was not done and I dont think that it will ever be done. our men have been und countermineing it but found nothing as yet. I think it is not very likely that they will blow it up without we / are all ready for them, for we are looking out for all sutch movements from the enemy. the rebs seem to be rather hard up since the Weldon road has been cut, and the report is that old Lee says that he will retake it or lose every man that he has here in the attempt. it is all that I can say that if that is his intentions he can run his men up to our works as soon as he likes, only I pity the rebs that is to retake the rail road, for they will get badly whiped I think. we get some what of shelling yet but we are quite safe. /

you say that Mr. Graves is about to leave you let me know what is the reason and so on and soforth.

the card de visits came all right and have been takeing care of. you must of received the answer to them long before this.

I suppose that Theresa went back to Connetticut from what you say that she has gone. there is nothing new around here at presant. I am in the best of health and spirits at presant.

I will close hopeing to hear from you again soon.
