Was born at Lepranx Province of N.B April 12 = 1844 mooved to Colais Maine in 1847 lived at Milltown until 1855 moved to Crawford remained there until august 1862 I inlisted august 14 for the 6 Main Regiment then in the field Was musterd into the United States Servise august 20 = left augusta Maine Sept 9 and joined the Regiment at South Mountain Maryland Sept 15 i was in the Battle of anteatim 16=17 of September
Geo B Medelland was in command of the army
the army went into Virginia November 2nd and went to Fredrecksburg in December from 11 to 15 Major Gen Burnside in command camped at Squire creek the winter of 1862 and 63 major Gen Hooker took command of the army broke camp Apriel 28 = 1863 and went to Chancilerville from May 1st to 6 the 6 corps stoped at Fredrecksburg and carried the fortis and pit May 3rd the 6 corps was Seywigs corps the army fell back to Falmoth and the 6 corps went to support the cavelery in their big fight at brandy Station June 9th then the army started for Gettiesburg the 6 corps arrived on the field July 2nd after 35 miles without rest in one day Lees army fell back to the Potomac the 4 of July and our army crossed the Potomac and camped about Warrentown broke camp at warrington November 7th 1863 and marched to Rapperhanock station went onto the scirmish line at 4 oclock our Regiment and the 5 wisconsin charged the fortifications took 1300 prisenars 4 pieces of artillery and 7 stands of Rebbel collars our Regiment lost in killed and wounded 130 officers and men I was one of a selected few that presented the capturd collars to the chief of staff of the army of the Potomac camped at Brandy Station the winter of 1863=64 went to locus grave in December and mine run U. S. Grant had now taken command of the army and we broke camp the 4= of may 1864 and crossed the Ropperdam the fight of the wilderness comments May 5=6 Spotslavana 9=10 the bloody angle the 12=coal harbor june 1 untill the 12 when we went to the James river and then peetersburg July 16 and corps left Peetersburg july 9 went to city Point down the james riber across the chesepeak bay up the Potomac and landed at Washington went out to fort Stevens head of Seventh Street found Earley army there drove them into the Shananador Valley follerd them to Woodstock then we returned down the Valley to Harpersferry then the 6 maine 5 maine and 7 main was consolodated and called the first maine vitiary I was at Winchester Sept 19 and at Leader creak October 19 staid in the valley under General Sheradon until December 5th then went to washingon and by transports to city point went to the left of Peetersburg went into camp for the winter march 25 our brigade drove in the rebels picket after a hard fight it was the 6 corps that broke the Enemys lines at the left of peetersburg Apriel 2nd 1865 I was at Sailurs creek Apriel 7
