George F. Frost
George F. Frost was born in New Brunswick on April 12, 1844. The family moved to Calais, Maine, in 1847 and then to Crawford, Maine, in 1855. He took part in most of the major battles of the war’s Eastern Theater, including Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, and the Wilderness. In August 1864, the army consolidated the 6th and 7th Maine Infantry Regiments into the 1st Maine Veteran Infantry Regiment. He mustered out of the military in June 1865 and returned to Maine.
