Dear parents as I have ben writing some to Nila I thought that I would write you a few lines for fear that you and Grandmother might think that I had forgotten that thare was aney one else but Nila but if I dont write it is not because I have forgotten aney of you but I am quite buisey now days for my gun is rather poor for me to have and I have worked at it untill I have got it so it suits me and the Commishioned / officers dont say any thing against it and so I think it will do for me we are haveing some fine weather hear but rains some days but no snow since I came hear and the frogs sing nights so it is quite pleasant hear I suppose you have got snow up thear in Hawley well that is the diffrrance but I think I should like a good sleigh ride just about this time but we have to wait what are you all up to now days and how is the colt but it is getting dark hear / and I shall have to quit writing and light a candle give my respects to Mr Atkins folks and tell them that I should like to step in and have a chat but cant just now for I am in gagued for some six months or less pleas write often and oblige and may God in his mercies protect you all is my prayer
