My Dear Sister
I am in a great hurry & so you will have to excuse me for commencing so abruptly We started from Baltimore last night & arrived here this morning I am now in the great White House. Writing this in the rotunda of the Capitol it is magnificent beyond Description I have been all through it the Senate Room among the rest. But I have not time to describe it as we leave for Arlington Hights distant about 5 miles within an hours time. we march to there afoot. I put a letter in the Post Office at Harrisburgh for Mother I did not put a stamp on it & Ive heard it would not go. I am sorry But it cant be helped Give my love to Mother & all the Rest send my respect to Maggie & Mr Given & family for the present dear sister I must bid you good bye
Believe to be as ever /
Your Affectionate Brother
