good morning, as I have got a small box of close fited to send to you I will write a few lines, to let you know that I am a going to send it I put in 4 pair of mittings one pair of pants one coat 5 or 6 pair of drawers & 5 or 6 shirts the boys is [bottom half torn away] /
 
is gone & left evory thing that they could not carry & so I picked up some of the things & sent them to you. I have got a pass to go to Alaxderia & carry them. I am at the city now & have put the box in the express office & paid 12 shillings on it. so youse them at the best advantage the coat & pants is for Dolphin [bottom half torn away] /
 
give my best Respects to all inquiring friends the was a man shot here yesterday for not stoping when he was [ink blot] my pass runs out at 5 oclock so I must think of going back I did not send my good clothes because I did not now but that I would want them our Brigade is at Bulls Run if a true report has come it has cost $1.00½ send that box write if all the things is worth it. we have not drawed pay this time / yet I got the money of Jud Bartlet he thinks we have hard living But if he does not find harder I shall wonder write son as you get this I have not got any letter since I wrote that last one so write son I would like to see you all, so good by no more at present. I am agoing to try the Regt agan in a few days if not to morrow they air 26 miles from here
