Dear Parents
I now improve the fournoon of this Sabath for the Purpose of adressing you in answer to the Messive which came to hand yesterday bearing Date 25th it found me in midling good health & circumstance & much pleased was I to hear you wer all as well as you are I am verry happy to say it gives me great satisfactory to know & hear how the Railroad is proceeding. I hope it will not prove as the Copperheads say the war has. that is a Failure. I say woe unto the Copperheads / But havent time to express my feelings on Political affairs this eve I will now say I could not finish this fournoon as I was interupted with Co 2 young Ladies & a Gent who I am well aquainted with [?] Galls here to see brothers in the City and couldnt help but come & see the Belle of Campbell. I will now say I am sorry about your exposeing me & your self of our Ignorence by having that rather simple letter read in such an Ordinance. I think it must bin rather flat. But its over with now & we will drop it
About the R.R. affaire I hardly know what to say but guess you can make arangements and I will go on and do the best I can about it if I commense I shall do a fare thing about it altho it will not be as paying as it would in the Army
Now I will say I want that Power of Attorney made out & sent if you'r ever agoing to do any thing about it Dock I think you are Rather Shifliss about it [?] I have done as well as I have with you Now Sir I want you to do something about it soon or I shall hold you Responcble for the said amount.
Now I dont want you to run around all over the Neighborhood asking different classes of peoples oppinion of it for that is all the hopes I have of getting it. Now be prompt and do as I ask you to. I will now close as tis time for lights to be abandoned I will now close hoping to hear a prompt reply
I Still Remain your
Most Humble Son
& Brother Sergt
