My Dear Sister & Mother
I seat myself this morning to write you in answer to your kind letter which I received this morning by Lieut Shannon this morn leaves me well hoping it may reach you safely an find you the same I wrote to Terven last week given you an account of our trip down here I no no more about what we are here for nor how long we will stay than I did then but I can hardly beleave we will attack Suffolk you say Terven is comeing on to stay in Romars place I can not beleave that he will take him as he keeps all the books and attends to nearly all / the buisness that Terven could not do but when he gets here we will see I have nothing to write an you must excuse my short letters an bad writting as I have nothing to write on but my knee I do not think you give Molly justice when you say she is high tempered how bad I want to see here an Bill kiss them for me give my love to father tell him he must excuse me for not writting to him that I will as soon as I get to camp tell him he must write to me a letter from any of my dear ones is always a joyfull messanger if you all knew how anxiously I look the mails you would write evry day to your son an Brother
