Margaret Simrill
Margaret Simrill (maiden name: Clinton) was born around 1816 in South Carolina to Joseph and Mary Clinton. She grew up in York, South Carolina, and she married John Davidson Simrill in the late 1830s. They had at least three children: Mary Margaret, born around 1839; Joel, born around 1841; and James, born around 1846. They settled in Chester County, South Carolina, and her husband worked as a confectioner. By 1860, they owned $615 of personal property. A decade later, her husband was working as a brick mason, and they owned $1,000 of real estate and $200 of personal property. Her husband died in 1893, and by 1900, she was living with a grandson in Gills Creek, South Carolina. She died in 1902.
