Dear mother
this evening I will try and write you a few lines which leaves me in tolerable good health we have been drawing so much meal that a great many has got the bowl complaint and a mong them I am one we have been selling a bout half of our meal so you can tell I dont eat much of it Capt gave me the tobacco I am very much obliged to you for it. I received a note from joel yesterday by Lieut Anderson he did not even say that you were all well or any thing else that I wanted to know so you can tell him that I say dont write to me any more with out he can write a letter it makes me so mad to think he would go home and then write such a letter /
pipe he can buy in chester. we are drawing meal sugar cofee rice salt vinegar and bacon and we got a variety of things we will have some greens for dinner to morrow it will be wild greens I dont know the name of them but the are very good. tell joel to write me a long letter and never to rite me such another as he did and I will forgive him him. mother I want some ink and a coat and one paire of socks if you please. let me know where Jim is and how to direct a letter I received a letter from a young lady backed to joel well you know I got one of mine after I went home from black watter and he read it so I could not stand the temptation and open it came it wasent me broke it open but it was my fingers and after it was opened you know I had to read it well you ought to heard her talk but it wasent lucy write soon to
