August 11th 1862
Dear Benjaman, as I have not written to you in some time, I will try and write a small letter. This leaves me well and also Mr Counyers and Capt Foster. ourer Company has benn transfur to the 32 Regiment N. C. Troops. I lik my exchanged very well.
I would lik to com and stay with you all a week or so and geat som of your good graps; Mr Conyers has gotten well Mr Sykes pore fellow is Dead. he died last March; We are stasion two miles east of Petersburg. I am in 60 miles of home and I have not ben home yett; Capt Foster wrote to you som 4 weeks ago and he has no ancer. he would lik to heare / from you. The Capt sends his respects you and all the family.
I have ben sick a bout 4 monthes but thank God I have got my health again. it is thought that the yankees is going to try thare hand on Petersburg.
Remember my love to all the Family I want to heare from you all bad.
I am on gard to day so I have not the time to write.
