            In answer to yours of 13th Inst. the Col wishes me to state "that Lt Walcott was badly wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg—left leg since amputated below the knee—he is now at Hospital, doing well, and will probably soon be sent to his home—his letters have been sent to C. H. Walcott. Prov. R. I."—
