Dear Brother
                                                                                                                        I take the present opportunity of writing you a few lines to let you know that I am well and hope those few lines may find you enjoying the same blesing Well Milt I received a letter from you yesterday evening and was glad to hear from you you stated that you wanted me to do my duty at the Election and vote but the soldiers from Indiana is not allowed a vote unless we get to come home to vote Govener Morten is trying to get the Indianians to come home to vote but they cant all come for nearly one third of Shermans army is Indianians / and I dont think our Regt will get to come home Well Milt you said that you wrote to me and wanted to know whether I got the letter or not I got it and answered it the next day and wrote to you what to do in my land business I expect you have got the letter by this time if you have not I will wrote one to father which is very near the same that I wrote to you Well Milt I wrote to Mat that our Regt was all captured but it is a mistake they only captured and killed only 30 or 35 men out of our Regt three out of our Company two captured and one wounded Well I believe I have wrote a bout all I know to write at this time I got a letter from Mary yesterday she said / my truant girl was out ther if you see her tell her that I guess I will live over and not cry a bout her Just ask her to go to hell a minute or two if she will for me Well that is all
