Richmon Va camp winder hospital. August the 14 1862. Dear Letice i take the presant opertunity of riting you a few lines to let you no that i am well at presant hoping when the cum to hand the will find you all engoying the saim blesings of god i would be glad to se you all for i canot get any leters from hoam the last letter i got was dated July the 20 which gave me the satisfaction to no you ware all well at that time i rote to mother and sent 35 Dollars enclosed in it when it cums to hand i want you to rite and let me no i sent it by Mr cox i directed him to drop it at donaldsville / and if you doant need the money let them hav the use of it i hav got as much money as i want and thot it was best to send it hoam as i thot you mite need it the Ragiment is in the valey under Jackson i am left behind with the sick but the hav moved them to the hospital and i am going to my Ragiment in a few days if i can get of my helth is tolerable good at this time i expect i will get a letter when i get to the Ragiment i hope so any how i want you to rite to me as soon as this cums to hand and let me no how you are geting along and how the neighbours are geting along and how your crops look / and how your stock is doing you better take good care of your hogs or bacon will be very hy next fall and hard to cum at i hope i will se you all this fall if i can get a furlou i will and cum hoam and get sum close but i do not no whether i can or not i want you to hav me sum close reddy my close is good yet but i will want sum this fall you stated you may made 24 bushels of wheat the crop was sorry but if you make corn you may [?] on it but you canot spare any of it doant sel any of my tobaco / i want you to ceep the tobaco and not sel it money if you need it and if you do not need it let mother hav the use of it i hav nothing of importance to rite i think i will start to the ragiment to morrow or monday i hope the war will end soon so that we may get hoam soon Direct your letters to Richmon va Orrs Regiment of Rifels in care company B in care of captin cox nothing more at presant but Remaines youre afexionate husban til deth J.
