Louisa Grimes
Louisa Grimes was born on May 8, 1830, in Indiana to Thomas Grimes and Nancy Woodward. Her father was a farmer who owned $1,200 of real estate by 1850. The family lived in Monroe County, Indiana, and by 1860, she was working as a housemaid. She married John Leonard, and they apparently had no children. They lived in Charles, Iowa, and her husband died in the late 1800s. By 1900, she was living with her sister Paulina in Perry, Indiana. She moved to Bloomington, Indiana, in the early 1900s. she died of a cerebral hemorrhage in Bloomington on August 18, 1916.
