Dear Brother and Sister
            Yourse of the 9th is at hande and as I have a fiew moments lesure I embrace the presant opportunity of answering it I received it this evning and was very glad to heare from you but sorrey to heare that you was unwell I am well at presant and as hearty as a buck and I hope by the time you receive this you will bee engoying the same state of health I am I havent any ware news to wright you at presant as all is quiete here along the Potomice but they are dewing some fighting in South Carolina and Mosuria and westren Virginia but I havent room to give you the particulars / in this. So I will sende you to days Baltimore Clipper and you can see the whole precedings and I doant expecte you often see a paper that is printed so near the seat of ware I manage to get one every day or else I wouldent know wat was goying on in the armey my selfe for I swaire Ide never know any thing unles I did for I doant get out side of campe once a mounth unles it is to drill and god knows we get enuph of that for we are drilling nearley all the time I think some times they are trying to kill us them selves for I doant se any sines of getting in a battel it doant look as if we woulde ever have any fighting to dew now and to tell you the truth I doant believe that the Jersey troops will ever be braught into battel for / I tell you Tom there feelings is non of the best there is a great many that there simpithy is with the South but thank god not quite all I for one doant and never will as long as I keep what littel cence Ive got and that isent mutch. I have bin out all the after noon the whole division has bin on reviewed this after noon and I am all most tired to death so you must excuse my wrighting this time. tomarrow we have to bee reviewed by Jeneral Mclilon and I expecte it will take all day and I hope it will be plaid out then for I am getting tired of so mutch of it. you say you had an aufful storme up with you well god help you if it was worse than it was here for it came near setting us all out dors it blew som fifteen tents down and tore them / all to pices I was Corporel of the Garde that day and I was out in it all. the winde blew mee away allmoste some times I believe I never tolde you that I had bin promoted, for I thought so littel about it that I didint thinke it worthwhile
 
I havent sean any thing of Mccray yet. I have sean all the Stewarts vill boys cince they came they are all well they are encamped about eight miles from us near Vienna they are in the 47th Pencylvania Regement I wrote to John a fiew days ago but havent Reced an answer yet I mus bring my letter to a close for it is nearley time for Role call and we have to go to bed as soon as that is over So good night to you all for the presant nothing more but remain as ever your Brother
