Dear Miss I seet my seff to inform you that i am well and i hope those few bad composed lines may find you injoing the same blessing of helth i recived youre kind and welcom letter whitch come to hand yetter day eavning and i was glad to here from you and glad to see that you did not get anger at that question Dear Margret i havend mutch of eny importens to write more then the cavlery and the gariler compney has bin taking the yankees like all rip and Horses they have / captured 63 yankees prisners and 95 hed Horses and mules Miss Margret i would give eny thing in the world if jes could see you and talk with you and have our old fun over Miss Margret you must not think that am trying to flatter you fore i think too mutch of you as to try eny sutch a thing you must not think hard of me fore puting that importen question for well you no that if a body never tryes to find out eny thing they never can. Miss you must anser that quesion let it be gud or bad but i trust to God it may bee all right with you my Dear / for i am going to try for mee a companion wile i am in the armer and i pitch my love towards you first and if you forsake me then i dont no how to commence writing to anothe tere is plenty of girles that would write to me but none like you for you are the Dearest of all you need not fare to answer the question for i am jest as canded as if i was on oath about any thing So i will not say any more about this subject you sade you was making ches inda i wish i was thare to help you to eat some of them and enjoy youre compney you can save / me one of them chese and then i can have the plesure of eating it with you. So i will quit this Subject now this is all i can do and i certify that it is true
remember well and bare in mind
a trusty friend is hard to find
