Dear parents tis a blody time her now you peter bleave so our horse company went out last night bout 200 of them they got lost and the calefornia men hid there and thoght thought that they was Rebels and fierd on them and kiled five of them wounded 8 more of them and i se the Ded Dead and Wounded to day and again to day our men gave them hell they drove they off from mancion hill and a nother place that forgot the name the full amount was about 20,000 Rebels and they all run 
 
I sent my closes home they was pute in a big box and directed to Wilam Cronan
