Dear parents i take the Oper tunidy to let you no that iam well and hope thes few lines will find you the same to and to let you no that they are throwing shells at the Rebels here to day whare iam the cannons roar mighty loud to but they dont fire back at us we shell them every day alittle jest anuff to let them no that can do it and they find it to be so to for we nock sum of them to hell so wel and we are gointo drive them to eternity bimby and that is so to that is all about that now. you sead in your letter that Gorge Phelps was in washington and if he is i want you should wright to him and let him no that i / am here and i want you should write and let me no whare he is to and Gilmon to and Jackson to and want you should tell me all abut Edwin and his wife to and his folks to and what the fuss was of about about and all and if he and his wife is gointo stay to your house this winter or not tell Colbon Johnson that he dun dam well to ketch that bar and tell him that i should like to see him and his famley to and tell him to write to me som and tell charles Mc the same to and the old man sots tell Gurnale Allen that ihave seen arther allen sen i got here Joseph harison to and alfred Briggs to Daney to and Mike foleyts and charley Kinsman to and Carlos Car to and lots others to and isee Genral McClen Mc clellan to day hear and his / Armey was Armey is 150 miles long 4 deap you wanted i sould let you no how my toes was now so i will tell you they are well now and they haint botherd me atall yet gilmon has then gon to the war so good by
