                        I take my pen in hand to adress A few lines to you hopeing that you will excuse me this time for I hav not seen a time when I could rite I hav not riten home for A long time but shall try to to morrow if nothing hapens how much I should like to be at home this winter think I would hav some very nice time rideing round with my little duck Tim is just as much of A boy as ever he was & I guess he would make it manfest if he was at home
 
All of the Troy Boys hav enlisted for to serv 3 years more
 
Hary P has enlisted and expts to come home soon
 
All that reenlist for 3 years more / hav A Furlow of 30 days to go home and then to go for soldier Boy 3 years more While While Tim comes home to soldier with my little Duck
 
thare was two men killed A few days sinc by the fall of A House they ware in the sular when the house comenced to fall and could not git out they both belonged to the same train that I do
 
Wall I hope it in 10 months from to nite I shall be whare I can talk with you with out using A pen
