Point Lookout Md

            My Dear Father and Mother
I have been wating for a letter from you but as I have got tired of wating I thought I would write to you. I am enjoying very good health just now and I hope you and my dear Brothers and Sisters are well to it is very hot weather here the people that live here say that June is the hottest month in the year here. By what I here you must have had a grand time in the City when the sixth Ohio came in and I only wish that I was home to see it because you know that it was a thing that I was looking forward to some time before I left. you must write and give me full particulars of it. you did not tell me wether William Rud came / home. I suppose you have plenty of fruit now and lots of corn well you may give my share between Mary and Robert but I do not think I would be so liberal if I was home myself and mother knows that I always managed to make a way with my share of all good things.

the negro regt that went from here on a raid have returned and have resumed their guarding duty and that would be all right but as soon as the negro had come back the 20 invalid core left for fort Delaware they took all the rebel officers that were here the say they are agoing to put them under the fire of their own guns the way that they treated our officers that they captured. since the / 20 invalid have gone we have a good deal more guarding to do as I sit here writing the fourth R.I. are going out to guard mount they got paid of yesterday.

When you write to me Pleas mention how many letters you have got from me for I have wrote a good many that have and have not any answer

you must tell my dear brother William to write to me and tell me all about the shop tell dear Mary to write and I will write a little letter just for her and she will have plenty of time soon because she will have vacation.

I suppose you have heard of the death of poor Tim Moriarity he died the 23rd at 20 minuts of 10 P.M. he was buried the 24th at 5. o clouck it cast a gloom over us all for he was one of the best natured / boys in the company I acted as one of the Paule bearers we had a minister perform the burial ceromony that belonged to one of the company and you do not know how good it made me feel to here a good prayer he spoke first rate he spoke of how that some said you could not live a christian in the army and I only wish he would preach on sabbath but they will not excuse him from duty.

you must write to me Father & Mother soon becaus you know how much I want to here from you all some of the boys get a letter or paper every day
