                                                Mr thomas hagerty                 Sir                   I received your welcome letter on the the 14 inst stating to me that the twenty Dollars arrived safe You [?] state to me that you and amanda are in good helth as this leaves me and all my combrades at the parting of this letter thanks be to the almighty for his Mercies to us all When this letter reaches you write one to the old country to my Brother [condy] as you now evere thing as well as I do my selve your Brother [condy] I heard nothing about him nor any one of my countrymen We herd that general shields had some engagements but they are 5 hundred from us there fore I can not give you any account of him you said I should not trust any more money in letters but there is no express office hear and it [paper hole] to trust it in letters [paper hole] it / in my Packet in the kind of a place we are in
 
Dear frind every thing is quite heare as so far nothing of any importance has trancespird since I rote to you last But we are side by side with the enemies and dose not now what day this conquring Battle is to be fought it may be before you get this letter and it may be for to weeks yet Edward freel is well in helth John Bayele is well and all my acquaintances are in good helth No more at presant from your friend John
