John Carr
John Carr was probably born in Ireland. He eventually immigrated to America and settled in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Union army on October 12, 1861, and he mustered in as a private in Company D of the 96th Pennsylvania Infantry later that day. The regiment took part in the Seven Days Battle and the Maryland Campaign. He was wounded in the Battle of Crampton’s Gap on September 14, 1862, and he died in Burkittsville, Maryland, five days later.
