I receaved yours of the sixth inst witch was moste welcom I am well never in beter helth I had the bowal complaint but as soon as I got chesnuts it was all over hoping these few lines will finde you all in good helth I also receaved a leter from David Henry today of the 5 witch I will write a few lines to him in this
As to the war fare their isent eny thing to speak of the best nuse is that we are going to be paid off before this reach you
And now Brother as to John back pay he has the same amount of pay coming that we all have I sined the pay role day before yesterday and all the boys that was in the hospital receaved thar pay and sined the pay role but his name wasent on it nor has it been drawen now you spoke about wether he was oing eny one he dident oe eny one eny thing and as for me what I give him I gave it out of my fine good will and if I had my heft in golde and he was here with / me and wanted it he should have it for their isent eny of you that feel his loss as much as I do for all he was your Sun but for we left home together and he was my near and dear friend and he alone was all I thought of and I was all that he thought of and all he look to their is some of the boys he tolde me that oed him $4 but hoo it is I cant tell his acount book was lost with his napsack
Now I have spoke to the Colonel to sea if he or wether I could get his pay but he says that their is a man to utica that seas to all them things
