            My Dear Husband
I will write you a few lines this eveny to let you know that we are all well except mother she has had a hard spell of diahrrhea, but she is some better now. she had to get a girl to do her work part of last week and the doctor was there two or three times. I have been up there all day and Harv has been writeing to Dave and I expect that he has written all of the news. They are still continueing their revival at the north school-house the meeting has been going on for two weeks I think that they have got about twenty new members. Tom Alison among the rest. Harv was there last night and I expect that he got religion for this is sunday and he is fixing new hames on Queens harness. Next thursday is christmas We will soon have to bid adieu to to old 62 It is a year long to be remembered by us as well as thousands of others I wish that you could all be at home to spend the holidays. Harvey has got the stable raised one pole higher on the east side and four on the west he has it covered with plank and fixed up very comfortable he has rails hauled to make a feed lot for the / calves and he has their shed covered with hay and is going to set up fodder around the sides

In your last letter you wanted to know if we had got your old clothes. Pap had them sent on to Ottumwa and got them there as he come through. The first thing that I done after getting home was to secure my old letters and you may be sure that they are in safe hands now I thought that I had written to you about this before but I suppose that I have neglected writing it until now We read in the daily Argus that it was probable that the 34th would go into winter quarters at Hellena but it was not a desireable location. If you are there yet and think that there is any probability of your staying there any length of time I want you to write to me what kind of a place it is and I also want you to write what your opinion is now about the termination of the war I have the poorest assortment of pens now that I ever had anything to do with. I will come to a close by promiseing to write soon again your loving wife                                                                                    L.A. Reed
