well will write a little more i send some moss and a cain leaf that i picked when we was coming coming up this tennesee river we had stopt to get secesh corn for the mules and cook some on shore. that was March 17 it had grown this spring (but what of leaves and ever greens) the likenes you gave me is worth all scenes of nature to me those letters and little verses i keep them all to look at when tiered of camp or sick or in low spirits i have two testaments and a soldiers hymn book that i think a great deal of yes and that ribbon that Miss Lol sent to me it is such a nice mark in my testament. i will send a verce or two on the other side of this. your affectionate JGS
