June 16^th..62    well it is most day light the martains and french malking birds are singing so sweet you said you neaded money, i sent 10 in one and $5 in another letter some ten days a go. i know i had aut to sent it sooner after we drawed, but i could not get paper then nor stamps thare in the lone forrest Ruth send me some stamps in a letter well i thought maby i would come home soon and fetch the money but i will send it to you maby i will get there some day. i must stop and fetch watter to wash with and make a fire maby i can make 2 or 3 dimes this morning JGScoville

June 16 i will write a few lines more i done my washing then went with the company to the river 1 mild to take a general swim or wash we have I have just ate dinner i am now sitting under a large apple tree near our camp. you wanted some advice about your team well i am not there to know how times and things are but i suppose the bes you can do is to trade the waggon for a good one horse waggon and get the differance a cow or somthing the family can make use of. maby i will fetch a pair of mules for a team i can get them cheap at St Louis or cincinatti but i cant tell which rout i will come yet or whether i will bring a team or not well i will try to do the best i can /

 

we will stay hear untill we can rebuild 2 railroad bridges and that the confounded rebbels burnt and fix the track some then go to Memphus or some other place we never can tell beforehand whare we will go or what we will do thats so. now dear Ruth dont get discouraged but that is not your name well dispair not for every thing is for the best O that i was at home yes at my own Ruths side i think maby she would bake some buisket for me i must go to old Ohio to get something good to eate for i am tierd of fresh beef and crackers O for a closer walk with god i expect to dy the of a cristian and share eternal joys Ruth pray for me Lol teach your younger sisters the way to do rite and be kind to ma /

 

our mail rout is stopt at present but we can send letters in a few days i will mail this as soon as i can and send some money in it keep an account of the money that you receive so i can know how much goes through safe. no more at present. Phylander you must be patent and be a fine i think i will be home in  month or 2 to help you work
