Dear and ever loved companion i now sit under the shade of a large tree near to our camp the company is drilling in front of the tents. my head aches and i was excused from drill it is not so extreamly hot this morning but some days it is so warm down hear in rebbelldom that we suffer much from heat the watter is poor some times we are glad to get muddy green skumed mixed up by wattering mules. such watter does not make delicious coffee but the soldier must take it as it comes thank god this war will play out some day, then the survivors can return to there friends and (once) happy homes O may the time speddely come /
