Dear Brother
I received your letter of the 5 a day or so ago but as I had writen a few days before I have not bin in eney hurry to answer it we are all well I believe what there is left of us they are detailing the men most every day to work in saw mills Black Smith Shops or on the railroad &c &c Car Dun & Jim Sincebox are working at the carpinter trade down town I think I shall Drive Oxen they say that they are agoing to have about 200 teems to work some 30 or 40 to be oxen the rest 4 & 6 mule teams some of the boys have spoke for a team / of mules but I think I had rather take an oxteam for there is but little diference in the hornes there was some of the boys went up the river yesterday to raft down some logs for U Sam but I dont know how far up they went
Well we mustered again this morning for two months So you see the time is a wareing off but we have not seen the pay master in some time and that aint all we dont know when we will they say we run away from him when we come up here Oh you say that our cousin is on the gunboat queen city I think I have not seen it yet it must be up the river farther there was one up red river with us caled the Cressent City which I saw perhaps that was the one I will try and find him out if I can
I see that arnold is a luckey man how did Billey morison make out
well pete about that affair of Dr Wixons & Jim Decays I am sure the Dr Wixon turned some with James Decay but I do not know how much Nor I dont rember at what time it was made but I think some time in the summer of 1860 or before I rember of mother her talking with the Dr about it one time when he was at our house and I am sure that the Dr agread to turn it with Decay but still I could not say how much Nor at what time this was. I supposed that Mother had kept an acount of it & they would show
