                        Dear Brother
I received your and your wifes kind letter last evening and was glad to hear that you wer well. I am as well as useule and enjoy myself very well. we have have a very comfortable tent for this mild climate and plenty of duty I have just bin down to the regt to see how they got along. it has bin very muddy down there but is a drying up some for a day or too the boys down there seam all in good spirits I saw Josiah Hiler driving mules Brown was Corprel of the camp guard to day so he is all right Will mahon was pounding his old drum / as useule they have 4 hours drill a day and think it rather tough besides inspection every few days So I think Co A is all sound as long as they are provo guards I was down to New Orleans the other day and had quite a time without No money. I saw Geo. S. Prentiss and hurd from him yesterday. his hand is geting along finely and he is in good spirits well Pete what do you think of the draft this time. I hurd that they wer inlisting quite brisk around Elmira. I dont suppose there is meney more in putleney to inlist now. I kinder think this thing will wind up this summer I hope so at least for I have seen about all the show I want to this morning paper has a report that Blair had went back to richmond again and there is fair prospects of / piece soon but it may be onely to get volenteers but I think not

you said that Si had made a payment on that suit so I suppose it is out of herens hands well I hope he will get it setled in some shape so we will know wether we will get eney thing or not you said in your letter that you had sent me some stamps and paper with John Prentiss we have not hurd nor seen eney thing from him yet but presume he will be here soon

I wrote to you some time ago to send me some things if you had a chance. I wish they wer here now so that we could take some comfort eating them while we are in camp and have a chance Rack and Jim McConnell got a box soon after we came here and we have had some good meals out of it but I think it would go better / if I had some thing from home in it, but we are all soldiers together all in one tent and if I do get eneything it will be all right.

Jims & Racks butter goes good on pancakes and if we had a little honey they would slip down so easey. well I dont think of eney more jist now and I must write a few lines to Sister Martha Write and give me all the News. From your Brother
