Calvin W. Lewis to Luther W. Hopkins, 3 May 1910
148 West Canton St., Boston,
May 3, 1910.
L. W. Hopkins, Esq:
Dear Sir,—
Herewith, under another cover, I return your manuscript. Perhaps you will think that I have mammocked it, but I went upon the principle that you would want evidence that I had not neglected it!
Do you know the brother Gen. Armistead's brother who lives at Farmville? I must enclose what Gen Doubleday says about Gen. Armistead, I and I wish you would send it to the brother and ask him if it is true. I doubt the statement that Gen. A. fought on the Union side in the first Bull Run battle. Very truly yours,
C.W.Lewis.
