My dear Comrade,
I am just in receipt of testimonials as to "From Bull Run to Appomattox".

I am writing to suggest that we exchange copies of From Bull Run to Appomattox & "Richardson's Defense of the South" with the compliments of the authors.

You entered the army as a boy; I as a young man 23 years of age, from the Senior class in college. There should be, & there are no better friends than those who fought with Lee & Jackson & J.E.B. Stuart. I belonged to Jackson Corps & fought under your Stuart at Chancellorsville. He went in sign singing "Come out of the wilderness, Old Joe Hooker, Come out of the Wilderness".

I shall ask my publisher at once to send you a copy of my book with the compliments of the author. Sincerely your Comrade.

You will find many errors, due to the printer, in my book. Entire pages of the Ms were omitted at times, & rewritten for correction. When it finally came out in book form it was a surprise & disappointment
