Jefferson Barracks Mo
Oct 29th 1867

Dr. Nellie
I have but a few moments as I am very busy getting my papers made out as fast as possible so as to get mustered out & get away as three of my men died of cholera this morning & I have 3 more very sick. the first man that has died in the Co for over 18 months & to get so near home & have them die seems worse.

The change in air & water diet &c was too much for them

will write you again soon
                                                Yours truly      Nat
