                                    Col.
I have the honor to transmit here with my Appointment as 1st Lieut. Muster in Roll and final Discharge from Service also Order putting me on duty March 17th 65 at Dept Hd. Qrs. I was on duty as an Officer prior to the 1st of March 65 but the records of the Regt were lost so they did not show the time of entering upon duty of any of the first Officers. I entered upon duty about the day of the date of my Appointment. Genl Thomas was in Louisville at or before that time and told me to go and report to the Regt / and he would send my appointment to me I went on duty and the Genl went directly to Natchez Miss & sent my appointment from there and I recd it before the 1st of March 65 and had been on duty some little time when I recd it.

When mustered out as a private of Co "H" 11th N.H.V. I did not get a discharge as the M.O. told me it was not necessary & so I send you my muster in Roll get Col. Armstrongs certificate as to the time I entered on duty & think you can get Capt Corbetts also.

Please let me hear from upon the receipt of this.
                                                                                    I am very Resptfy
