     Concord August 11  1861
     Dear Brother it is with
pleasure that I take this
opportunity to answer your
letter.  Mother has just
received your letter.  we have been
rather lonesome since you
inlisted.  Father and I
shall be over the first of
next weak.  Hiram and
Cullings boys are going
over next weak.  I have thought
of you often and have tried
my best to inlist but cant
The old folks will
not hear a word to it   The
school marm was over to
our house and she read your
letter and she was very
pleased to think that
you thought of her.
Give my love to      
On         and St
came over home tonight
to read your letter and now
I must draw to a closefor
it is time i was going back
So good by for this time
