Dear Children & my Dear Arthur
We Recd yours of May the 15th Glad to here you are well excepting Doras cough hope it is better now I expect you have looked for a letter ere this perhaps John has writen dont know. left Union 6 days after poor Jacobs funeral

Am here with Elen since Thursday last. All well here onley I have a bad cough, worse since my side has healed up, but am able to be about some Bro France & I atended the quartley Meting at Wakley last Saturday & Sunday had a very good meeting & very good preaching by Elder Sicafuse & Bro France, Bro John Lutz from Vandalia was there spoke with power & feling in love feast, of our old accquaintance & good meetings in Ohio & especialy of my berevement & my sorrow, & the loss the Circut has sustained in the death of dear Jacob their Pastor /

O children how I wished you could have been here I never saw such a general time of weping by a large congrigation the suden death, & truley Jacob was beloved by the whole Circut, in & out

of the members all respected & loved him 2 old men ware emerced here by the Elder in the lake. Jacob had Recd them in the Church, they & others wept when introduced to me & the Elder too, it was all through the meeting hard for me.

here in this Church he preached his last sermon, here I was publicely introduced to all, his Leaders & stewerds of the Circut & his friends all feel their loss

In Love feast many had to speak of him & how they loved & respected him, he was a peace maker says some &c &c

the quartley conference our Circut paid for his coffen 35 dollars, & Bro France moved for a general or Circut donation for the widow which was voted unanimously this was very chearing to me when I herd it I was not in the conference (not proper I thought) /

the particlars of his disese & death as near as I can tell, was a chronic inflamation of the plura, diaphram & liver with dyspepsy & weak stomach

on Saturday he was about the house & yard & told sevral of the Brethern that he was better than he had been for some time thought he would be able to preach again ere long &

sunday Morning at 4 oclock he was taken sudenley with a severe cough ruptured a blood vein in his lungs bid farewell to all in the house & in less than 30 minutes, his hapey spirit took its flight, to the better world; to join those dear ones gone before & prais God and his savior for ever & ever

thus one more of our family has gone home to suffer & die No More

God help us all to meet them in Heven where all our trials & troubles shall have ended & we are permited to see each other face to face; God bless you my dear children Pray for poor me /

Bro France preached Jacobs funeral & the best sermon I herd in a long time from Jobe 14 & 14 If a man dies shall he live again &c.
