Dear Mother
I have just returned from guard duty I am on guard once a week on 2 hours and off 4 hours only on guard through the day no guard kept on through the night so you see we have an easy time as far as guard duty is consoarned no picket duty have we done in any occasion I received your kind letter a few days ago it was misent and was a good while a coming I have not heard from home but once and that was your letter I have written a good many times I think once no answer Ozias and myseff are well _____ Ozias qerys he is not the busist that ever was. I have not been sick since I left home not ever we live as better than I expected as good as soldiers could wish. we have just received marching orders three days rations to be cooked_____ _____ whare we are to go I can not tell but we may not go att all every thing is quiet here no rebbels are seen or heard if now. they are calling for the 3 realief guard now and I must close I will write again soon tell Julia to write me often give my love to all from your affectionate Son
