William H. Bone to Adrian Bone, 4 March 1862
Mar 4th 1862
Dear Mother
I wrote you a letter day before yesterday and told you how i was getting along. I am still well and enjoying good health and hope that these few lines may find you all the same. after i had got that letter in the office Ben jeffry took a notion that he must have a box of things sent to him from home and wanted me to send for some and have them come in the same box. as it has got fashionable for some of the boys to get a box almost every day. I will mention a few things that i would like to have I want pretty smart of pickel Cabage I got a tarte of some that one of the boys got and i thought that it was the best thing i ever eat. I want a can of apple butter catsup butter sorgum or maple molasses / Caned and dried fruit and you may stick in a few onions to fill up the holes and if you have room some bread or cakes. I dont want you to send it all but tell Uncle William and uncle john I want them to send me some. Ben proposed that you and his folks see each other at meeting and set a day to take your things to Lewis store and there have them packed. for he told Ben before we came out that he would do such things for him. Send me that hat that i used to wear for sunday and a pair of suspendors and a handkerchief. you can double the hat in any shape it wont hurt it. I believe that i have nothing more to send for. send all in tin cans so far as you can. No more but remain your beloved son.
W H Bone.
